AIMS-Sénégal offers an intensive one-year graduate level course leading to a master's level diploma in the mathematical sciences and ECTS accredited by Universities Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar and Pierre et Marie Curie in France. The provisional programme can be download here.
Application for student admission in September 2013 is now Close. Students are strongly advised to apply by 28 February to qualify for the first round selection. The application form may be downloaded here.
The first round of selections are made in March 2013, and it is advantageous to have your application in before that date. Full bursaries covering tuition and accommodation costs will be available. However, owing to limited funds, support for travel will have to be applied for separately. Therefore, every effort should be made by applicants to secure support for their fare (or at least a partial contribution) from their home country.
Applicants should hold, or anticipate completing by the start date of the AIMS course, a 4-year university degree in mathematics, or any science or engineering subject with a significant mathematics component. An applicant's record should demonstrate a strong mathematical aptitude. The application process is highly competitive and potential applicants must be able to demonstrate both a high degree of motivation and the preparation and ability required to complete the course successfully. AIMS-Sénégal will be a bilingual institute with courses either in french or in english. We strongly advise french-speaking students to take an english course and english-speaking students to take a french course before coming to AIMS-Sénégal. This can be followed up at AIMS-Sénégal with english or french conversation courses and scientific writing classes.
One of the goals of AIMS is to recruit a student body representative of Africa's diversity. Each applicant's dossier will be evaluated in the light of the prior educational opportunities available to her or him.
In order to consider your application, we must also receive in addition to your application form:
There will be no course fee for African students. Applicants should, where possible, try to obtain funding for travel to AIMS-Sénégal and subsistence costs from their family, their government or from charitable foundations.
For students unable to obtain funding from other sources, AIMS-Sénégal will have available bursaries for which a separate application must be made. Admission decisions will be made separately from bursary decisions and without regard to whether or not an applicant has applied for financial aid. An application for financial aid may be downloaded above.
